Dear Will,

I just received notification from Harmony Ink, informing me that they want to publish my story, ‘Pitch’. I’m so freaking overwhelmed and excited!

 

Today could change my life…

By the end of business Friday, Ms. Elizabeth North from Harmony Ink (the Young Adult division of Dreamspinner Press) will be contacting me to tell me the fate of my YA story ‘Pitch’.

This has been the most incredible ride of my life and regardless of what happens, I’m proud of the story I submitted. It’s garnered several compliments from people who have read it, caused some to laugh, others to cry. More than one person has fallen in love with one of the characters because of his presence and the fact that he’s an extraordinary person.

However, the truly extraordinary people are the ones who helped to make Pitch the story that it is. The ones who gave me the honest feedback and suggestions to make the story stronger and more engaging. Tomorrow I’m going to post a thank you to those people for their efforts, no matter what the outcome, because I’m deeply thankful for having these people having been a part of the story as well as being my muses in any case (even if they were required to bring out the proverbial whips and chains to get me to do the work).

So keep your fingers crossed for me, if you don’t mind. I’ve a feeling I’ll need all the luck I can get.

Seven Weeks

PITCH:

Taylor Andrews fell for Jackson Kern the first time he saw him. Only thing is, Taylor is in the closet, too scared to make a move. And when he finally gets up the nerve to approach the young athlete, a fellow student is only too keen to share Jackson’s true feelings for Taylor – and Taylor’s heart is broken. Although Taylor tells his best friend Benny that he intends to stay away from Jackson, he keeps finding himself drawn to the places where Jackson is, whether it’s the baseball diamond or volunteering for the student council. Taylor just can’t keep away. And the realization that he’s in love with Jackson makes it so much worse.

Knowing that Jackson will never be with him, Taylor tries to go on with his life. Into his world walks Kevin Richards, a charming young man who will turn his world inside out. Kevin brings so much to Taylor’s life – Lies. Deception. Jealousy. Violence. When the truth is finally revealed, that should be the end of Taylor’s problems. Unfortunately, he finds out that they’re only just beginning…..

On January 23rd, 2013, I submitted Pitch to Harmony for consideration to be published. The lead time is six to eight weeks. This means that I’m in the home stretch. Sometime in the next couple of weeks I will get a letter saying, “Thank you, but…” or “Thank you and welcome…”

I’m trying to remain optimistic, but those butterflies that have been in my tummy have now started mating with rabid hippopotami. This is my first baby and the wait is just killing me.

In other news…I’ve begun working with the talented KC Wells on another novel (no title yet) that will be done under Parker Williams (my pen name for non-YA fiction). Also starting a blog for Parker and will give details for that later, too. Parker has also done two stories for MLR Press that will hopefully be picked up at some point, too.

Things are changing fast and furious in my worlds. Hope they’re going great in yours!
